FAQ

What Does NLP Stand For?
NLP stands for Neuro (To do with the brain) Linguistic (Languages) Programming. (the way things work).. In a nutshell, NLP is software for the brain. Just like a computer runs programmes to achieve outcomes, so do people. The more flexible and suited to purpose the software is, the better and more effective the outcome.

What Does it Do?
NLP has been variously described as the technology of the mind, the science of achievement, and the study of success. It is based on studies carried out on people who are excellent at what they do, whether it's in business, sports, education, recreation. The way they achieve excellence can be taught to others in a systematic and pre-programmed way, enabling everyone to achieve their own levels of excellence in their chosen fields.

Why Would I Be Interested in Learning About NLP?
NLP provides you with a set of easy to use tools which will allow you to make changes in your own life and to assist others in doing the same. It provides you with insights into how people think and behave. In a teaching/learning setting, using NLP can help you achieve a level of communication that will make you a more effective teacher / trainer.

Has it Been Scientifically Proven That NLP Works?
No, nor does NLP make any claims to be scientific or to be based on studies that compare the average behaviour of one group with the average behaviour of another.
NLP is based on individual performances and skills. The main principle being that if one person can achieve a particular skill, then another can learn the same skill if they integrate the skills and attitude of the achiever into their own thought processes.

The point being that if it works, a person has achieved what they set out to do. if it doesn't, then they stay the same! Nothing changes. NLP is an intangible, non scientific set of tools, which if used well, can bring about dramatic changes in communication, rapport, and physical skills.

Where Are the Courses Held?
Our courses can be held at a venue of your choice if you have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 12 delegates. All that is required is a reasonable sized room, comfortable chairs, and facilities for provision of refreshments.
Courses that are offered to the general public are usually held in venues based in either Worcester, Hereford or London. We understand that getting to London, parking issues, and the cost of London based courses is sometimes prohibitive. We also feel that when courses are run at our Herefordshire base, they are much more relaxed, as we are situated in beautiful rural countryside.

Are the Trainers Qualified?
Both Steve and Debbie are qualified master practitioners, and are also qualified in hypnotherapy. They are also qualified teachers. Both have worked in the education field for around 15 years, and have worked at all levels. Steve has been involved in mentoring staff and delivering staff / teacher training, including sessions on NLP.
Debs has delivered NLP sessions to companies in and around Herefordshire, and is also qualified in a number of other alternative therapies. She holds a diploma in Anatomy and physiology, and management qualifications.

Do I Need to Attend the Foundation Course First?
If you are already familiar with NLP tools and techniques, then no, otherwise Yes, as this initial course will explain all the underlying concepts and principles of NLP. Once you have completed the initial course, you can pick and choose the modules that suit your individual teaching/training needs. The initial course can be standalone, or run consecutively with any of the other modules.
